St Paul and the Minneapolis Funk All Stars are honored to play Prince's music at this historic event. Appearing with the All Stars will be Kirk Johnson and Jellybean Johnson, and the Prior to Prince’s death, the University of Minnesota had been preparing to present him with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, the University’s highest honor. This fall we will present the degree in recognition of his remarkable talent, enduring influence in music, and his role in shaping the city of Minneapolis. President Eric W. Kaler and Regent Darrin Rosha will present the degree to Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson.
