Minneapolis funk legend St. Paul returns with the single ‘You Got 2 Love’, his first solo material in over 10 years. Discovered at 17 by Prince, St Paul was hand-picked to appear in the film ‘Purple Rain’ as the new keyboard player in The Time. He contributed his keyboard and bass skills to the group's platinum album ‘Ice Cream Castle’, including the hit singles ‘Jungle Love’ and ‘The Bird’. Prince then recruited him to front The Family, whose self-titled debut was released to critical acclaim, generating the popular singles ‘The Screams Of Passion’, ‘High Fashion’, and the original, and finest, version of the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, later popularised by Sinead O'Connor.

St Paul’s self-titled, debut album yielded the US Top 10 R&B hit single ‘Rich Man’. His second album, ‘Down To The Wire’ saw him hit the US Pop Top 40 with the single ‘Stranger To Love’. Having outgrown the restrictions placed upon him by major labels St Paul’s most recent releases have been released on independently: 1996's Blue Cadillac, a personal project created to satiate his many international fans, and a fiery live recording as a member of the Minneapolis All-stars on Live At The Quest. The ensuing years saw Paul become an in-demand session musician, playing with some of the biggest names in music.

After nearly two decades The Family reunited briefly in 2003 at the request of Sheila E. for a huge charity concert. A year later Questlove persuaded them to appear at his hot ticket post Grammy party. The band’s highly anticipated comeback album ‘Gaslight’ (released under the name fDeluxe) was released in October 2011 and quickly became a critics favorite featuring in numerous end of year lists. The album was afforded a double page spread in the Sunday Times who proclaimed “From the skintight beats of Gaslight’s opening track, Drummers and Healers, fDeluxe’s supremely taut and sensual soul is not only intact, it’s rejuvenated.

Fiercely independent their next move was the release of 2 new albums funded by their loyal fanbase via a successful Pledge Music campaign. ‘AM Static’, saw the band add a Minneapolis flavour to some of their favourite songs. Along with the concert album ‘Live & Tight Like A Funk Fiend’s Fix’ featuring material from both ‘The Family’ and ‘Gaslight’ albums, ‘AM Static’ was released in late 2014.

In April 2016 the band were in the process of booking dates for shows later that year when they were rocked by the news of the death of their mentor Prince. The band respectfully declined the majority of interviews, choosing instead to make musical statement 7 hours and 13 days after the passing of Minneapolis’ most famous son. The song was premiered by Billboard and attracted worldwide press features in Rolling Stone, The Telegraph (UK) and New York Times as well as on BBC and CNN.
